Dear Alumni of TWGSS,
Hope this email finds you well! Thanks a lot for your support for the Careers Expo of TWGSS in the past four years! No matter whether you just joined us last year, or have been with us all these four years, or couldn’t come in the past but still offered us your spiritual support, we are very glad to see all of you showing your enthusiasm for coming back to TWGSS to share your life and work experience with our students. In October 2016, we are into the 5th year of our Careers Expo and the 2nd year of the Mentorship Programme. I write to invite you to join our activity again on 15 October 2016 (Saturday). We are very grateful for your offer to help and give advice to our S4 to S6 students as a mentor last year. If you were a mentor of the S4 and S5 students last year and you could come again this year, you’ll be meeting your mentees again. And if you were a mentor of S6 students last year and you could come again this time, we’ll arrange the S4 students to be your mentees. And if you could not make it last year and would like to join this year, we’ll also arrange mentees for you.
The goal of the Careers Expo and the Mentoring Programme this year is to guide our senior form students (S4 to S6) to set their learning and career goals. Though some may think it may be a bit early to ask the S4 and S5 students to think about their career goal now, your sharing will surely inspire them about the different study and employment options available to them, especially students who are not from an advantaged background, and hence how to get better equipped at an earlier stage. If you could come, besides sharing your study and work experience, you may also ask them about their goals for the future and give them your advice from your personal experience in the Mentoring session.
From the reflections of some of our students in the past few years, we found that our students not only acquired knowledge about the study and career pathways, but also the positive attitude towards their work from you, which we think is more valuable and important than the academic knowledge they gain. I’ve attached a couple of forms filled in by our students for you to have a look.
We welcome any TWGSS alumni to join the Careers Expo. If you know of any of your classmates who would be interested to come, please kindly forward the information to them.
Please send the reply form to me by email or by fax on or before 26 September 2016 if you could join the Careers Expo this year.
Thanks a lot for your help and I look forward to seeing you in the coming functions at TWGSS.
PO Tsz-yan Karen
